A football field, on the construction of which in the territory of the Almaty Youth House we wrote in early August, has started its functioning. The first match has been played, and children have already estimated professional cover “artificial grass”.

Due to a contour floodlighting located along the perimeter of the field children will be able to play football till late at night, because most of them study or work during daylight hours.

Football is favorite sport of the majority “Zhastar” participants, and a new field is a real gift to those children whose leisure time is inextricably linked with healthy lifestyle.

“The House of Hope” in Almaty is a unique Social State Institution. The House accommodates both newborn and children under the age of seven (7) years old, generally from dysfunctional families the majority of which are represented by lone parents who are almost ready to abandon from their parental rights because of various circumstances: financial instability, disease, age, etc. To give these parents ones more to think on their future steps, to get on their feet and find a job – the House of Hope temporally accommodates and educates their children for the purposes of future reunion with their parents. The main target of this State Institution – to keep the family and return both healthy and educated child to his/her parent, to reduce the number of abandoned children as well.

Though all the personnel are treating children with due care and love, the “House of Hope” is a closed institution and those children living there are still limited in entertainment, playing and sports facilities – as a result they have to use and play those games and toys they have inside the House. So it is very important for us to provide children with everything they need for their mental and physical development. And one of those 9 groups existing in the House of Hope has no outdoor playground where children could physically train to be healthy and strong.

Having weighted all the pros and contras, the “Saby” Charitable Foundation decided to construct such a playground for this Group. Thanks to the financial assistance of our sponsor – LLP “AlmatyGasEngineering” – we could put into commission a new playground “Ksil” for those children by the 1st September. In addition, we also reequipped the existing sports ground for all the children living in the House of Hope.

The Youth Home “Zhastar Ui”, Almaty – is a social establishment which accommodates the orphans-graduates from orphan homes. Young people live there until they reach 23 years old based on a dormitory concept: they buy food, cook and pay for utility services themselves. And it is not easy to be independent after being fully supported by the Government: you need to look for a job and earn enough money to buy food and clothes, to pay for education, etc. While the Youth Home staff is trying to do everything possible to facilitate their socialization process – it is very difficult for young people to face such a contrast in their previous lifestyle and that one they have today; but it is more difficult for them to go through an adaptation process to new realities.

And here the sport comes to help young people to overcome the difficulties. Sport is like a “bridge” for young people to go to their future making them strong enough to overcome the difficulties and survive in the existing circumstances. Residents of “Zhastar Ui” enjoy playing volleyball, basketball and wrestling, but playing football – is the most popular among young people that is proved by creation of both men’s and women’s team which are successfully playing taking part in a great number of competitions of different levels.

There is the only problem – our sportsmen have no football ground to do their physical exercises and have to do that on the open ground breathing the clouds of dust. Those sponsors who are so generous to support Orphan Homes – are not so generous to support young people living in Youth Homes.

Having considered the given situation the “Saby” Charitable Foundation has decided to include “Zhatar Ui” into its program for implementation of the Project “Sports-Health-Achievements”. It is necessary to note that for a period of past few years our Foundation gives its regular support to the given Youth Home but in other areas of its development. It was decided to construct a professional sports ground for playing mini-football (total area: 800 square meters) coated with a special safety “synthetic grass” and equipped with the flood lights. The construction works are in progress, the football ground is planned to be commissioned by the 1st day of September.

After summer holidays the students of Almaty Physico-Mathematical School “Danashym” will be much surprised when they see a new playground being under the construction using the “Saby’s” Foundations efforts.

In the shade of spreading trees and alongside with the numerous swings, rockers, including the playground for the first-grade pupils, there also will be a number of horizontal bars, tennis tables and other sports facilities equipped with ladders, climbing frames, basketball hoop and other sports elements will be installed to develop strength and other physical abilities by senior pupils.

The construction of this facility (under “Sports-Health-Achievement” Project) will allow not only to vary physical education of children, but make them possible to play a lot of interesting games giving them an opportunity to be healthy and have more sports in their school-life.

Implementation of the “Sport, Health and Achievements” of the “Saby” Foundation is continuing in regions of our country. The current year has not become an exception. A sports complex in Petropavlovsk commissioned in May has become a gift for small pupils of the boarding-school No 2.

The construction of a multipurpose sports ground for children from the Umit orphanage of Ust-Kamenogorsk has also been completed. According to standard conditions defined by the Foundation for construction of such facilities the 450-square meters ground fenced by 4-meter safety grid has been equipped with basketball rings, gates for mini-soccer and racks with removable volleyball net, which allows, if necessary, to transform the ground quickly and easily for different kinds of sport. In addition, a special rubber covering, which protects against injuries in summer, can become a skating-rink for figure skating and ice hockey in winter. Powerful searchlights illuminating the ground along the perimeter give the children an opportunity to engage in sports activities until the very last post.

Long-awaited holidays have begun, and this gift for boys and girls came in very handy.

The Sports Project started by the “Saby” Foundation in 2007 by construction of both football and volleyball grounds as a present for children of Almaty Specialized Complex “Zhanuya” is to be continued outside the territory of the South Capital – Almaty – minimum two-three sports objects are being constructed annually within the territory of social institutions for children all over Kazakhstan. This year we are going to Petropavlovsk and Ust-Kamenogorsk.

The children of Special Boarding School No. 2 in Petropavlovsk (where more than 240 children are permanently living and studying) on the eve of their summer holidays have received a present in the form of a first-class Children’s Playground “Ksill” with total area of 150 m2 including a large jungle gym, four swings and 12 tables with benches. A special rubber coating will prevent the children from traumas and injuries during the games and physical exercises. The old and out-of-date structures which have been recently located within the territory of the Boarding School represented a serious problem mainly because of their non-compliance with the safety standards. The playground being commissioned by the “Saby” Foundation is not only a functional one, but is very reliable, certified in Kazakhstan and complies with all the quality standards and sanitary requirements.

Another sports ground is under the construction within the territory of the “Umit” Orphanage in Ust-Kamenogorsk; its commissioning is planned on July this year. We will write about this in details at our web-site a bit later. This sports ground will be the 19th Object to be constructed under the Project “Sport-Health-Achievements” for the purposes of promotion of health and physical education of our “young” fellow citizens.
