Tutors are going to help children study better

By | news

Tutors are going to help children study better At the beginning of this month the “Saby” Charitable Foundation started a 6-months programme of lessons for senior high school students of orphanages within the framework of its Educational Project. The lessons are held in the tutorial center so that pupils could improve their knowledge in basic subjects and increase their results when passing the unified national testing.

Our Foundation has made a decision to support children in forming their skills in hard work with training material and reinforcement of learning received at school. Intensive study of subjects and individual assistance rendered by specialists will help children in choosing their future professions. Besides, “excellent” marks will allow many children to get further financial support from the “Saby” Foundation for payment of education in vocational and higher educational institutions.

Thus, using the whole series of stages of work with future leavers of child social institutions including the work with a psychologist for psychological correction of children during the whole school year, organization of computer-based specialized testing with the aim to determine their abilities to one or another profession, semi-annual tutorial lessons as well as further payment for education in colleges and higher educational institutions, we are preparing gradually the children for independent living through their socialization and professional establishing.

Say Thanks on Thanksgiving Day

By | news

Yesterday we had Thanksgiving Day celebrated in all our Orphan Homes. This day we usually invite all our friends, philanthropists and sponsors who during the whole year provided their charity support to those children living in orphan homes to celebrate Thanksgiving Day together with them.

To say thanks and express their deep gratitude to all the guests, our children had prepared a number of wonderful performances and plays, presented their hand-made gifts and cooked various delicacies.

This day the Fund “Saby” has visited the Orphan Home No.1 in Almaty. It is a tradition for us to come not empty-handed: this day we had two heavy bags full of different presents and gifts including the new sportswear for children to have their out-of-door classes on the sports grounds built by the Fund.

Expansion of a car fleet of the capital “Invataxi” Service

By | news

Today the Kazakhstan Confederation of Disabled Persons (Astana) using 6 cars of Invataxi service, 4 of which were presented by our Foundation at the beginning of this year, renders free transport services to 2,500 citizens and guests of Astana city having specific difficulties of movement.

However, according to our practice, even such quantity of transport vehicles is insufficient to perform all requests received by the dispatcher service. This problem is particularly typical when some public events are held in the city, as a result of which there is a necessity for simultaneous transportation of a great number of people.

The situation can be rectified with the help of a specialized Volkswagen Crafter bus gifted additionally by “Saby” Foundation to disabled persons of Astana city. Like any other Invataxi cars this bus is equipped with hydraulic elevators for wheelchairs; however it has greater interior space for 3 wheelchairs and 6 seats.

The psychological correction and social adaptation programme has been started for children from orphanages and boarding-schools

By | news

The psychological correction and social adaptation programme has been started for children from orphanages and boarding-schools Children from orphanages receive the most severe psychological traumas and extremely negative experience during their non-durable life. Their world perception is extremely distorted and their social skills are not formed adequately. Such children do not know anything about life in the civilized society but they are familiarized well with customs of the difficult environment where they have been living for a long time.

Children are dreaming of normal life, they want to be good people, so they use their best efforts for that, however, after leaving an orphanage or a boarding-school they have to return to the problem atmosphere; they have some money to start their individual life but they cannot spend money in a proper way.

Having spent many years using full state support leavers of boarding-schools and orphanages are often not ready for individual life. Children do not know and cannot protect their rights; they are unable to make individual responsible decisions and achieve the set goals.

The “Saby” Charitable Foundation has been working on this serious problem for a long time.

We organized consultations given to children from orphanages by such specialists as doctors, teachers, psychologists. Besides, we organized meetings with interesting people, successful businessmen and professionals recognized in relevant spheres. They shared their life experience and secrets of their success with children. Certainly, it was very important to hold psychological seminars and trainings for employees of children social institutions, who deal directly with teenagers in the process of their preparation for adult life.

In the course of important activities aimed at social adaptation, in October of this year the “Saby” Charitable Foundation started the psychological correction programme for orphanage and boarding-schools leavers. During a period of 7 months a highly qualified practicing psychologist will hold theoretical and practical lessons with elder children of orphanages No 1 and No 2 of Almaty city and No 1 of Almaty region. A specially developed programme covers various aspects of life formation of young people: it forms variations of living situations and offers teenagers right ways of their solving.

A young student from Kustanay will be given an educational grant under “Alem” Program

By | news

A young student from Kustanay will be given an educational grant under “Alem” Program September 2010. Welfare Fund “Saby” has launched its “Alem” Program for searching those children, teenagers, boys and girls being gifted in various spheres and subjects, and giving its regular support in development of their talents.

The first nominee to be supported by the Fund is Zhasulan Sydykov – a nineteen-year student of Kostanay State Pedagogical Institute; Zhasulan has recommended himself as a very talented person: he sings, writes music and makes various music arrangements. After having sent his CV to www.eng.alemthebig.kz, Zhasulan was immediately noted by the Alem Selection Committee consisting of highly-qualified and recognized experts authorized to evaluate skills and abilities of registered participants only.

So, we invited Zhasulan to Almaty and got acquainted him with Renat Gaisin, the well-known Kazakh Composer, who noted Zhasulan’s excellent vocal skills. Renat Gaisin also noted the following: “we must work hard with talented boys and girls to see and hear their professional performance in the future”.

Zhasulan has been dreaming about his studying at the Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy, so if he successfully passes preliminary exams at the Conservatory, the Welfare Fund “Saby” will give him an educational grant. We wish the future star to be patient and persistent in his undertakings, and we hope to see Zhasulan to be well-known not only in Kazakhstan but in all other countries in the world.

Olga will go to Moscow

By | news

Olga will go to Moscow The targeted assistance to people who find themselves in difficult life circumstances and have one or more serious diseases – is not the main activity of the Fund “Saby” that is normally operating under its Projects being duly planned and approved. But sometimes we have to face those situations where it is impossible to pass by and not to give your helping hand to a person especially when you are the only one who can really help!

In our situation we mean a pretty young girl of 22 living in Almaty; her life was full of bright colors and events until she had been diagnosed with the generalized form of myasthenia.

The given disease is a rare one and is not yet treated here in Kazakhstan, but treated in the Russian Institute named after Sechenov in the Russian Federation. The Fund’s Management took the decision to provide Olga with a charity support in the form of financing of her surgery and rehabilitation period there in the Medical Institute in Moscow.
