The spring holidays are coming to an end, and schoolchildren are to get down to the last academic term. The school leavers who have not decided on their future profession yet are pressed for time to make their choice.

Within the framework of the educational project of the Saby Foundation, the second stage of career aptitude testing involving 42 students of sponsored children’s organizations has been held this week. The first stage was held as early as in October last year.

According to the children, having passed special tests, they were able to open new perspectives for their future development, and consultations provided by an experienced psychologist helped them to choose a specialty they would like to study at higher educational establishments.

Professional orientation tests are widely used all over the world in order to determine schoolchildren’s competences when they choose their future professions. Such tests also help to reveal their interests and tastes in a certain field of activities, become familiar with many previously unknown professions and understand if an intended graduate can fulfil himself in this or that profession.

It is very important for the Saby Charity Foundation to help its 33 paternalized and orphaned children to make a right choice when choosing their future professions as this can define the quality of their further life. For this purpose, the Foundation conducts professional orientation tests in several stages every year.

Some days ago, the first stage of the professional orientation tests was conducted according to the special computer method developed in Lomonosov Moscow State University for the orphanages of Almaty City and Almaty Region within the education project implemented by the Saby Foundation. The second stage will be conducted in February 2017.

We sincerely hope that every child will be able to make a right choice and fill his life with bright and interesting moments!

Since 2017 the Unified National Testing format will be changed in Kazakhstan. Now UNT will be divided into two stages. Following the results of the first phase, which will be held in schools, the school leavers will receive a certificate of secondary education. The second stage of the examination will be fundamental for admission to the universities of the country.

For school leavers UNT is a crucial and serious step that determines in the future the selection of their profession and higher educational institution. And to be pioneers at passing of the new format of the examination is doubly exciting.

“Saby” Foundation will help to the pupils of orphanage No.1 of Almaty city and boarding school for children from low-income families of Almaty region to prepare for the final and entrance examinations. To this end, on October 1 within the framework of educational project the Fund has organized the eight-month preparatory courses to UNT, which will be held in the “Dostyk” Educational Center which has already proved itself as a reliable partner.

During the 2016-2017 academic year, we will share certainly the results of the interim tests of our charges and hope that they will pass the examinations with dignity and live up to the efforts and expectations invested in them.

The 2nd stage of professional testing, which “Saby” Foundation holds for fosterlings of Almaty boarding schools annually, has been completed recently. Usually this stage is held in February, but this time testing was postponed to March because of administrative reasons of the educational center.

Fortunately, the delay did not affect the receipt of necessary results. 49 school leavers, who demonstrated desire to check their preferences and conformity to future professional occupation, responded questions of the computer program, developed by Lomonosov Moscow State University, for more than an hour. The fact that many personal professional preferences coincided with the testing recommendations is gladdened.

Now it remains only to follow personal plans of individual development and necessary skills formation, prepared for every student, as well as to improve knowledge of subjects, which will be included in the Unified National Testing, necessary for confident university entrance by chosen specialty.

Last week the fosterlings of Almaty boarding schools passed testing of career guidance, which our Foundation holds within the framework of the Educational Project annually.

A computer program developed by the specialists of Lomonosov Moscow State University help our school leavers to choose a profession according to their unique personal qualities, character features, habitudes and interests.

This first October stage gives guidance to school leavers on the choice of future profession as well as recommendations what disciplines it is necessary to turn attention to in the graduation class, to pass CNT and enter chosen universities successfully.

The second stage of professional testing will be held in February and only then they will be able to answer the question of profession choice.

Finally we know the names of the state educational grants recipients.

We couldn’t wait to get the contest results together with the children from Almaty foster homes and orphanages attending SNT (Single National Test) preparation courses throughout the year, which are annually organized by ‘Saby’ Fund under Educational Project. To get the state grant is the final aim of given classes as well as their efficiency evaluation in some way.

We are happy to announce that the third of the children, completed our 8 month training, was awarded state grants!

Freshmen now gather strength before the academic year, and we get ready for accepting new participants of SNT preparation courses.

Yay! The period of examinations for school leavers, who attended preparatory courses to CNT organized by our Foundation, has been completed. We waited for the results of testing together with them and now we are happy to notice that almost all our mentee school leavers got passing grade. It is gladly to realize that 8 months of preparatory work during which fosterlings of several Almaty children’s homes and boarding schools attended educational courses were not ineffective. Some school leavers have real chances to enter chosen universities on state grants.

It became possible thanks to experienced teachers and special advanced program of the educational center with which Saby Foundation has been working successfully within the framework of “Educational Project” for several years already.

Certainly, it was difficult for school leavers throughout the academic year. Serious additional loading coupled with study in school did not allow to relax. As the saying is, “Learnt young, learnt fair”, almost 86% of school leavers, who attended all preparatory courses, passed CNT successfully!

Finally the last bell rang and the former schoolchildren all over the country are in for serious trial – common national test paper. 125 questions in five academic subjects will become a kind of a springboard into adulthood.

8-month CNT preparatory courses, where inmates of several orphanages and boarding schools of Almaty studied, are over. Annually the Saby Charitable Foundation organizes and sponsors these courses based on one of Almaty educational centers.

We did our best to help our wards to pass the test paper successfully and enter educational establishments of their dreams. We are looking forward to the examination period and announcement of the results, preferably in three-digit figures.

Very little time is left before the end of the school year and, consequently, to the Common National Testing.

Our sponsored children from Almaty orphanages and boarding schools, attending preparatory courses paid by “Saby” Foundation, came to the final preparation stage for CNT. They are diligently preparing for, so far, the main exam of their life, which is simultaneously both a knowledge assessment gained for 11 years, and an entrance test to universities.

Of course, it is not easy to combine the current school teaching and learning activities with extra classes. However, regular level tests show that the performance of participants is improving month by month, and reception of desired points at CNT becomes quite feasible.
