Mahatma Gandhi. Wisdom and Philosophy

By | Wisdom of the Great

Mahatma Gandhi. Wisdom and PhilosophyMahatma Gandhi (1869-1948) — one of the leaders and ideologist of the national liberation movement of India. His philosophy of non-violence Satyagraha had an impact on national and international movements of those who supported peaceful changes. He rejected violence in any form. For more than 30 years he persistently preached his philosophy and finally proved the effectiveness of non-violence policy to the whole world when India peacefully gained independence from Britain thanks to Gandhi’s efforts in 1947.

But a savage struggle broke out between religious groups for the right to dictate their will to the government in the awakening country.

The year of 1947 ended with bitter disappointment for Gandhi. He kept proving the fatuity of violence but nobody seemed to listen to him. In January 1948, in a desperate attempt to stop the interethnic strife Mahatma Gandhi resorted to a hunger strike. He explained his decision this way: “Death will become a miraculous escape for me. It is better to die than to be a helpless eyewitness of India’s self-destruction”.

His name is respected in India as much as names of saints are pronounced. The spiritual leader of the nation Mahatma Gandhi fought all his life against religious strife which was tearing his country apart, against violence, but he became its victim in the decline of his years. Mahatma means “Great Soul”. This title perfectly reveals the real character of Gandhi. He enjoyed great confidence by Indians irrespective of casts and religion, thousands of people came to him to ask for help and advice and they got them.

Albert Einstein:
“Moral influence which Gandhi had on thinking people is much stronger than it seems possible nowadays with excess of violence. We are grateful to the fate to have such a brilliant contemporary who points the direction for future generations … Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth”.

Mahatma Gandhi:

“First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win”.

“The weak can never forgive, Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong”.

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony”.

“A ‘No’ uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a ‘Yes’ merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble”.

“The law of the majority does not work in questions of conscience”.

“A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes”.

“You must be the change you want to see in the world”.
“As soon as you will believe that you reached an ideal, the further development stops and the movement begins to come back”.

“An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it”.

“An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching”.

Even Impossible Problems Can Be Solved

By | Decent life for Disabled Persons

Even Impossible Problems Can Be Solved A staircase is an insuperable obstacle for a human being who has to move around in a wheelchair if there is nobody near the elevator, ramp or no physically fit accompanying person to help.

And though modern regulatory documents stipulate arrangement of elevators for wheelchair-dependent people in multi-storey buildings, in fact, they are limited to useless ramps which are raised only up to the first floor.

Practically, the only one alternative here is mobile special purpose elevators which ensure safe travel of wheelchair-dependent people up and down the staircase. But a big disadvantage of such step climbing devices is their high price – around US$ 8,000 per unit, which is, of course, too expensive for the majority of physically challenged people.

In order to solve this problem Saby Charitable Foundation purchases caterpillar and wheel-based elevators and hands them over free of charge to the Invataxi service. While performing their duties drivers of special purpose vehicles use these devices to help people on wheelchairs ascend and descend the unequipped staircases.

Nowadays such mechanisms are being successfully used in the Invataxi system in 15 towns of Kazakhstan. And in view of expansion of the geography of these services 4 more elevators have been additionally purchased for Petropavlovsk, Taldykorgan, Turkestan and Zhezkazgan.

30 – 20 – 10!

By | Sport-Health-Achievement

30 – 20 – 10! One month hardly had passed when Saby Foundation reported about the completion of sports ground construction in Boarding School No. 8, Semei city. The foster children of Boarding school No. 4 for deaf children of this eastern city received analogical present.

Sport and health are inseparable, this is an invariable truth, that is why, what is gladdened especially is the fact that children with health problems not only refuse from trainings but have significant successes in playing sport games. We noticed that the main love of young Semei residents is football. Competitions between teams from different social institutions are held in the territory of boarding school. Young football players gathered from the whole city to demonstrate their skills.

Even earlier, play on bare ground in clouds of dust did not frighten young sportsmen, what we can say today, when they have modern professional sports ground with special artificial surface, 4 meter fencing and spotlighting which allows to train in evenings.

Not only football players are happy: amateurs of basketball and volleyball were not forgotten, the sports ground is universal, it is easy to remove gates, to put stances and net and the sports ground will be transformed for a new play.

This is a ‘jubilee’ construction, the 30th in succession, built by our Foundation within the frameworks of “Sport-Health-Achievements’ Project. Boarding School No. 4 became the 20th institution which received from Saby Foundation sport object and Semei is the 10th city of Kazakhstan where our project is functioned. Then it is difficult not to believe in numeral magic.
