Happy New 2013 Year!

Dear Friends! Happy New Year!

It is noted that acts of kindness bring joy both those who create benefit and who receive it. So let wish each other more acts of kindness in New Year. May joyful moments of the expiring year be always with you and bad moments leave behind. May your friends be with you in the New Year’s Eve, because, indeed, how celebrate New Year then spent it in this way. We wish you with all our heart love, happiness, prosperity and the most important thing – health!

Sincerely yours, Saby Foundation

Nomad’s Way social and cultural campaign

Saby Foundation has set a goal to show the rich historical legacy and uniqueness of Kazakhstan to the world and the possibility for successful integration of the East and the West by the example of our country where ways of many civilizations which have mutually enriched peoples and nations have entwined.

The Nomad’s Way project was developed as a means of realization of these goals and included two stages: an exhibition of ancient Kazakh pieces of jewelry which took place at Christie’s Auction House and a charity auction organized in the building the New-York public library (NYPL). Where else if not in New-York, “the heart of the world” and the cradle of integration, can such high ideas be realized?

The collection of jewelry from the time of nomads carefully collected by Imangali Tasmagambetov and taking its rightful place in the state museum of Kazakhstan was for the first time ever exhibited abroad.

Being inspired by the exhibited antique masterpieces such world-famous jewelry houses of Europe and America as Avakian, de Grisogono, Jacob & Co, Chopard, Chatila created unique pieces of jewelry in the best national traditions of the Kazakh people especially for Saby Foundation.

These pieces of jewelry were presented as lots at the charity auction which the mass media immediately called an epic event and discovery of Kazakhstan. In the result of the auction around US$ 1 mln. were raised. All funds were directed at implementation of charity projects of Saby Foundation.

The February 2012 charity auction in New-York was the second one in the history of Saby. It continued the policy of planned and consistent activities of the Foundation abroad. The absolute success of the event has once again proved the timeliness of the set goals, correctness of the chosen direction and methods of work of our organization.

Welcoming remarks by the President of the “Saby” Foundation

Welcoming remarks by the President of the "Saby" Foundation Aselle Tasmagambetova
President of Saby Foundation

This year our foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary. This is the important border and time for summarizing. When summarizing all executed work in several pages of the report I understand how seriously Saby Foundation has developed, having transformed from an idea into the significant institution with great projects, say the least of it, having social significance in our country.

Unfortunately, during the years of transformations the word “charity” has been discredited itself to a greater degree and now sounds trivially and pompously. Analyzing our activity for the first decade I note with satisfaction that we never departed from the main meaning – creation of benefit.

The keynote, if it can be said so, or motto of Saby Foundation is one wise person’s idea that charity does not bear noise and ovations, otherwise all acts of kindness and inward strivings lose their value and meaning. Non publicity and non announcement of our activity is explained by this fact.

I persuade that help to a fellow-being can not be positioned as a superhuman quality. This shall be a norm in civilized society.

Also I think that kind acts can not be estimated by the amount of spent sums. Sometimes sincere and soulful participation in someone’s fate is more important and worthful.

We want to hope that some time charitable movement and culture of philanthropists in our country will move to a significant new level.

Saby Foundation, for its part, passing into the second decade will continue its work for the benefit of people who need it.

I express my sincere gratitude to all our friends, philanthropists and each person who is not indifferent, all who were together with us during these years and without of whose support all performances would be impossible!

Sincerely yours,
Aselle Tasmagambetova

REPORT on
New Building Construction and Territory Equipment for
Child Care Center State Institution of Kyzylorda city

Saby Charitable Foundation
Almaty, 2012

Kyzylorda city. Hard weather conditions, ecological disaster zone of Aral Sea, constant water deficiency and, as a consequence, low level of life and health of local population, especially children, induced the Foundation to direct special attention to this region.

Child Care Center, situated in the regional center at the address: 84, Baiseitov street, is one of the most dangerous social institutions of the city in technical condition. This building is a frame house built in 1956, which is unsafe and old. Walls, patched with clay, are thoroughly whitened by workers of the institution, but this does not save from regular leakages and fragmentary breakdowns. Numerously painted window frames cracked and do not protect against winter cold and summer heat. There is no any heating; the process of heating is carried out by a ramshackle boiler house by means of rusty and rotten tubes. Small children live in such difficult conditions; they start here their life full of hardships without any support of parents and relatives.

Having organized the inspection of the institution in 2009, Saby Charitable Foundation decided that repair of this old building was unreasonable and concluded that a new modern building for children shall be constructed. Orkendeu Project of new building construction for Child Care Center in Kyzylorda became the most ambitious, resource costly and expensive project; more than 300,000 KZT had been spent for its realization.

Notwithstanding the social significance of the object, the initiative of the Foundation was not accepted at once. Approbation of the government of Kyzylorda city and Health Administration was received only one year later. The Memorandum about Cooperation and Collaboration was concluded in August, 2010, according to which the administration separated a land parcel at the address: 84, Baiseitov street. Saby Foundation started the development of design and estimate documentation.

But four month later, when working drafts were almost ready, the administration of the city changed its decision and gave another land parcel for the construction at the address: w/o No. Beibarys street. This decision caused 100% alteration of design and estimate documentation including the realization of new geotechnical investigations. But problems still remained.

When carrying preparation and planning works, 3 communication pipelines were found out on site, which were not registered in the city schemes. Design and estimate documentation had to be altered for the third time, because the availability of pipes, including gas pipe of high pressure, required to change the siting of building to dozens of meters.

The procedure of state expertise of the project turned out to be difficult. Experts- pedants expressed a lot of critical notes. Besides, more than half of notes were simply sophisticated. It took 9 months to get a conclusion of the expert commission.

Now all difficulties left behind. Presently, finishing works are carried out. The object will be put into commission in January 2013. Landscape and shade gardening including tree, flowers and lawn grass planting, is planned to be carried out in spring.

The project of this building has no analogues among social institutions of Kazakhstan, beginning from design and architecture ending with equipment and landscaping. Even the problems of economy of budget means for the period of building exploitation were taken into account. The building is not typical; we built not a common house, but a house where we tried to create for children maximal comfort and homelike atmosphere. Design and estimate documentation stipulate the construction of 3 main brick buildings (2 buildings– two-storied, 1 building – single-storied) with total floor area of 1,717 square meters, independent heating module operating on 2 types of fuel, engineering and utility services rooms, big summer showrooms, playgrounds, selected recreation areas with landscaping and fountains, perimeter barrier from splitter blocks, laying of all communications, paved roads and sidewalks, area and perimeter lighting of the territory.

Interior decoration of the building was carried out taking into account all standards of Building Codes and Regulations and Sanitary Regulations and Standards using modern, quality and ecologically clean materials. Object equipping with necessary facilities, furniture and interior was carried out at the expense of Saby Foundation thanks to our dear philanthropists.

Moreover, the local center for children’s early development of M. Montessori system is stipulated in the new building. For this purpose special equipment and materials were purchased in Omsk, Russian Federation, as well as educational seminars for employees of the Child Care Center with a teacher of the Russian Association of Montessori were held.

So, this building is not just a new building, it is absolutely distinct new house built in accordance with the latest standards where children will start their life in warm, careful and harmonious atmosphere.

Montessori – Gift of Santa Claus

By | Project "Education"

Montessori - Gift of Santa Claus New Year is children’s holiday primarily. Children make their wishes, write letters to Santa Claus and wait for a miracle impatiently. Most pathetic letters contain, of course, wishes about different toys.

We decided to materialize not several children’s dreams, but dreams of the whole city and to present little residents of Ust-Kamenogorsk city not just toys but educational gaming equipment of Montessori. The materials of this equipment are almost real and “adult” items of welfare, interior, nature and enginery.

Saby Foundation on the basis of our affiliated organization ““Bereginya”Family Support Center” Public Association arranged a form of early development of children from 3 to 6. Only over the period of pre-school age the relations of boys and girls with environment develop sweepingly. The most important thing is not to miss this perfect period of their life.

The cognitive process in playing form will be faster and more intensive. Interaction with bright, color, eco-friendly educational toys will allow little visitors of the center to be on friendly terms with the big world.

There were many guests in our affiliated boarding school No. 1 of Almaty city on the 29th of November. The main aim of these warm-hearted meetings is the ethic and mental development of children, upbringing of self consciousness and a sense of duty, development of creative and working skills. Such happy almost family events allow children to feel love and concern.

Though, boys and girls thanked their sponsors, the guests came with presents too. As usually, Saby Charitable Foundation with useful surprise – two big sets of tools for carpentry.
