You gave Life to children!

By | Save the children’s life

You gave Life to children! On June 30, 2011 the “Saby” Foundation and “Mercy” Voluntary Society held a reporting press-conference in MEGA Shopping Mall and presented the interim results of the project “Give Life to Children” aimed at collection of money for kids suffering from diseases that are not treatable in Kazakhstan.

The event was confined to a remarkable event – the “Saby” Foundation received from its sponsors the largest donation for the whole period of the project – 26,500,000 tenge, which was transferred by the Foundation to the “HOUSE” Foundation to finance surgical operations that are performed abroad for children suffering from severe congenital heart defects.

The warm atmosphere of the meeting gathered together organizers, sponsors and representatives of mass media, as well as young patients, who had previously received medical assistance under the project, and families who have yet to go through this hard way.

Welcoming speech was made by Aruzhan Sain. She thanked a company, which had made such a generous donation, and shared the results of our work: since 2007, when the project was launched, individuals and organizations had donated 2,036,000 US dollars in total and 315 children had been given assistance. And each new contribution would increase chances of small children to recover.

Many of our countrymen are involved in charity, and we do hope that the society of our country will always be compassionate.

With high esteem to young poets

By | Alem – support of young talents

With high esteem to young poets Along with numerous applications from “Alem” Programme potential participants there are also a great number of poems being received by the “Saby” Charitable Foundation from those children living in the remotest regions of our country. To support young people living both in villages and rural districts we have invited Mr. Kali Sultan Kaliuly – the expert in the domain of literature, poet, writer, journalist, secretary and Chairman of the Board of Children’s Literature of the Guild of Kazakhstani Writers – to select the best poems.

After reading all the poems being addressed, Sultan Kaliuly has expressed his own opinion thereon: in general – all the poems are not bad and composed using different styles of writing, although in some of them I found some minor faults which I have tried to remake. Sultan has especially outlined the poem composed by Seiitova Bagdagul – a girl of fifteen years old living in Aktobe Oblast. Despite of her young age, Bagdagul’s poems are rather deep and lively.

Such a high esteem – is a real achievement for the young poetess. In addition, the “Saby” Foundation will award Bagdagul for her poetry achievements in the form of giving a Grant to pay her studies at one of the Educational Institutions of the City of Almaty.
We believe those recommendations and instructions given by Sultan Kaliuly will encourage young poets to compose a lot of good poems in future.

And remember if you want to win the Grant from Saby under Alem Programme, please fill in the application visiting our web-site: www.alemthebig.kz.

Write, participate and win!

“YOUTH” Project – taking new targets

By | Youth Project

“YOUTH” Project – taking new targets Each event that is highlighted by us on Saby’s web-site as well as all the preliminary works to be initiated for its organization including other arrangements being planned – are of great importance for the Foundation. We do not classify the Projects with a breakthrough to their importance, including all of the steps to be taken for their implementation – because all of our Projects are of highly importance for us. Nevertheless we are always very happy to announce the launching new Projects because they will take a long and interesting way to be successfully implemented and will help a lot of people living in our Kazakhstan.

Today we would like to announce the starting of our new “YOUTH” Project. The Project is mainly directed on solving the problems of integration of orphanage graduates into the society. At the present time, although graduates of orphanages have benefits for housing from the republican housing stock in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Housing Relations” dated April 16, 1997, they do not actually receive housing because they are standing in a queue with other poor socially protected layers of population.

In this regard, under the “Youth” Project the “Saby” Foundation is considering a possibility to render assistance to young people-orphans in solving a difficult problem related to acquisition of their own housing on favorable terms. In this case the following condition is principal: it should be not a trivial scheme of “a benefactor gave – a beneficiary took” but long and hard work on the part of a recipient. Thus, applicants for housing may be only full orphans who have reached 23 years, received higher education and are currently working. Such a system will cause a graduate to think and work exerting maximum efforts and producing a stable habit of thoughtful and responsible approach to building a life. According to the given concept the most effective system for acquisition of housing by orphans may by the triangular mutual cooperation of Saby Foundation, Applicant for housing and JSC “Zhilstroysberbank of Kazakhstan”.

This type of cooperation is rather constructive. It gives a young graduate of a Youth Home an opportunity to receive an initial installment in a sufficiently large amount of money, which is not possible to collect by its own forces. In addition, subsequent financial payments do not have a material adverse effect on the budget because of their reasonableness. Moreover, final settlements with a bank and the Foundation will be made by a young man when he lives in his own house, maybe having a family and increasing his wealth, which can accelerate the settlement with creditors. As of 2011 for the purposes of this Project we have 7 graduates from Youth Homes operating here in Almaty.

Continuing search for Alem programme participants

By | Alem – support of young talents

Less than two weeks passed after a representative of the “Saby” Foundation went to a creative business trip to East-Kazakhstan region to develop the “Alem” programme to support young talents, “Alem”, as one more opportunity appeared to organize a meeting with talented children in Aktobe region.
This time the trip included acquaintance with children from several schools of the region: City of Shalkar, district centers Oiyl and Kobda, and Aktobe as well. The interviews with the children proved to be quite effective, and the number of Alem participants will possibly increase. Management of education institutions welcomed the “Saby” Foundation with open arms, but with some confusion, as benefactors from Almaty do not often visit such remote villages. However, briefings resulted in making interesting proposals for mutual cooperation that would be considered by management of the Foundation because the “Alem” programme must grow and develop for the benefit of worthy representatives of the younger generation.
We remind you that if you have unique natural abilities, you have an opportunity to join the “Alem” programme and obtain a grant to support your talent by filling out an application form at: http://www.alemthebig.kz/index.php?newsid=19

According to a tradition, during the trip we visited the Society for Paralyzed People Protection in Aktobe sponsored by the Foundation under the project “Decent Life for Persons with Disabilities” in order to study in details the works of the organization and monitor activities of the Invataxi service.

Visiting Nikita

By | Targeted assistance

Over the last eight years the “Saby” Foundation has been assisting Nikita Bazolev and his grandmother, who faced severe challenges. On pages of our web-site we have repeatedly written about difficulties that have befallen these people.

Each year, visiting a small but friendly family of Nikita Bazolev we are always surprised at their inexhaustible strength of spirit. During our regular visit Nikita was on a walk, and his grandmother, as always, was doing domestic cares. The realization of the fact that she is the last support for her grandson gives Lydia Alexandrovna energy: an old woman, who is well past eighty, is active as best she can in spite of severe hypertension, which constantly reminds of itself.

As in previous years, we have given to our mentees foodstuffs and a sum of money sufficient to purchase medicaments. This little help will allow Nikita and his grandmother not to feel an acute need at least for a time.

Unified National Testing has been passed!

By | Project "Education"

Unified National Testing has been passed! The most important thing in any job is the result, the achievement of a stated goal.

What can be an indicator of success of children from our sponsored orphanages, who have studied over a period of six months in the tutoring center under the Educational Project of the “Saby” Foundation? Of course, the results of the Unified National Testing.

And we are happy to announce that all our graduates have coped with testing and got good points and now, in the admission to universities, they may qualify for state education grants.

We wish future students further success and hope that each of them will acquire new knowledge in a chosen school with the same insistence and diligence.
