Alem – support of young talents

Last autumn while being in a business trip in the framework of the Alem Young Talents Support Program, one of Saby Foundation’s employees met a family of 7-year-old Nurzat living in Ayteke Bi village of Kazalinsky district of Kyzylorda region.

Excellent vocal skills and inborn artistry turned the young musician into a district celebrity from early infanthood. No festival happens without his participation. His retired grandfather helps him to develop his talent.

Taking into account the boy’s great fancy for singing and classes of musical instruments, the Selection Board of Saby Foundation’s Alem Program decided to present him with the digital piano Yamaha Clavinova. According to his parents, Nurzat could not even dream of such a present and when he learnt that Saby Foundation decided to acquire the musical instrument for him, lost his peace.

The long-awaited present will be delivered to the new owner within a few days, and we in turn will follow the further steps and success of Nurzat in the sphere of music.

Saby Charitable Foundation reminds you that The Second Poetry Contest in the national language will be over less than in a month. You can send your works until May 1, 2012 to alem@thebig.kz. The main expert of works of the beginning authors was invited to be the well-known poet, writer, journalist, secretary and chairman of the Children’s Literature Board of the Kazakhstan Writers Union – Sultan Kali.

To build a brilliant sport career is a dream of any teenager who begins to practise any kind of sport. Shining medals, admiring looks of fellows and prosperity gained by hard work and self-sacrifice is the real life of a professional sportsman.

In our complicated lifetime period when there are almost no workshops and extra classes and parents cannot afford a moderate payment for such activities let alone purchase of sportswear, sports equipment and expenses on external competitions, for modern society the question of physical education of growing generation becomes more vital.

In addition, as an alternative to outdoor games, which often lead to big sport, many children prefer computer battles and internet chats. Doctors and teachers have been beating an alarm for a long time but so far it is not possible to radically change the situation.

Saby Charitable Foundation by means of the unique Alem Young Talents Support Program opens doors to those children who indeed want to seriously go in for sports and make it their profession and part of life. In order a candidate for participation in the Program will be considered by the Selection Board, which includes also titled sportsmen, a resume must be forwarded. The most promising children will definitely get support. We are waiting for you, future champions!

This year Saby Charity Foundation for the second time becomes a partner of the ASTANA International Action Film Festival which was inspired by the well-known director and producer Timur Bekmambetov.

The main difference from the last-year event is that besides the Script Contest the organizers introduced the additional contest of short films where apart from our compatriots, participants from the whole world will be able to take part.

All applications should be forwarded through the website of the Festival, where works will be examined by the competent panel of judges composed of maîtres of world cinema, and the best shorts will be determined by internet voting.

We remind you that both professionals and amateurs are welcome to take part as the key point is to strive for success. Last year the winner among 150 script writers was the Almaty economist Bakhtiyor Kadyrov, for whom it was the first creative work in his life. The deadline for the submission of applications for the Script Contest is May 01, 2012, for the Short Film Contest – May 15, 2012.

The crucial point is that works and applications must be submitted only in English.

From February 13 to February 17, 2012 the Nomad’s Way socio-cultural campaign took place in New York, an ideological inspirer, organizer and sponsor of which was the President of the Saby Foundation Aselle Tasmagambetova. Nine months of hard work of the whole team were required to prepare for the event to the maximum extent possible and to carry it out at the highest level. The result was not long in coming – the Nomad’s Way was called a “grand event” and “discovery of Kazakhstan” by foreign mass media.

The event was timed to the anniversary date of our Republic – the 20th anniversary of Independence. It was intended to present to the world a rich historical heritage and cultural identity of Kazakhstan and it included an exhibition of ornamental arts of the ancient craftsmen of the Kazakh zergers and the charity auction.

An exhibition of artifacts from the unique private collection of Imangali Tasmagambetov, which currently occupies a worthy place in the State Museum of Kazakhstan, became a real discovery for the American audience, scarcely acquainted with the culture of Kazakhstan. The art of the ancestors of the Kazakh people has a long history and reached its highest level. A special place is occupied by the jewelry, which has been created mainly for the decoration of women’s suit and has amazed by its creative ideas and polysyllabic technology. Each master’s work is unique not only because of its historical value, but also due to its deep symbolism: every detail, every trait of the creation carries a certain value.

Inspired by these antique masterpieces, the world-famous jewelry houses of Europe and America – Avakian, de Grisogono, Jacob & Co, Chopard, Chatila, have made especially for the Saby Foundation the unique adornments created in accordance with the best traditions of Kazakh people. The unrivaled masters of the current jeweler’s art have made unparalleled products, using in their works features of old specimens, archaeological evidences, ancient petroglyphs, interweaving inexplicably the wealth of historical heritage of the great nation and recognizable personal mastery of contemporary artists.

These adornments were presented as lots at a charity auction, beneficiary of which became the Alem Young Talents Support Program, which now takes a significant place in the activities of the Saby Foundation and is aimed at talented and promising young people from provinces of Kazakhstan, for the purpose of creation of economic and organizational prerequisites for their intellectual and creative development, life formation and social self-fulfillment.
Unquestioning success of the event confirmed again the correctness of the chosen activities of our Foundation.

Traditionally we tell you about children, participants of the Alem Program for Support of Young Talents. Recently we have had a new person – Berik Tlepbergenov, a 1-year student of the Kazakh National Technical University named after K. Satpayev.

The young man was solicited for by the teaching stuff of the school where he studied and which he finished with honors. This school in the Atyrau region was visited by our colleague during an errand. Berik was praised for being highly motivated, literate and patriotic. Being a winner of numerous academic competitions, he won a government scholarship for study in one of Institutions of Higher Education of Almaty at a perspective technical specialty chosen by him. The young man is highly evaluated also by the fact that his teachers sent him some means to support his life in a big city. His mother, unfortunately, is not able to maintain her son because of her poor health.

Taking into account all pros and cons, the Foundation has adopted a decision to support the young man by accepting him to the “alemovtsy” team and granting him an academic scholarship for the whole period of education. Now when the period of lack of money has been left behind, Berik has to study zealously as there are new opportunities available for him in the largest city of the country, meanwhile Saby Foundation will be his reliable support!

Recently, we have got one more talent joined use under the “Alem” Program. A new participant under the “Alem” Program to support young talents became Batyrzhan Tazabekov – a young singer who has already won the hearts of the viewers of “Zhuldyzdar Fabrikasy” – a kazakhstani version of one of the most popular TV shows in the world which is better known as “The Star Factory”.

In line with his unique voice – Batyrzhan has recommended himself as very responsible person with abilities to overcome any difficulties and follow his life plans. He has a way with himself including artistry and visual contact with the audience.

A rather difficult situation in the family of Batyrzhan almost made him to leave the Academy of Arts named after T.Zhurgenov and begin working to help his mother to “bring up” younger children.

Taking into account the natural talent of Batyrzhan and recommendations of the experts of the “Alem” Program, the “Saby” Charitable Foundation has given to Batyrzhan an educational grant to continue his education at the Academy.

We sincerely wish our new “Star” were successful both in his studies and artistic work!

The “Saby” Charity Foundation announces the beginning of The Second Child Poetry Contest in the official language of the Republic of Kazakhstan (“the Contest”)

Term of the Contest
The Contest will be held from January 1, 2012 till May 1, 2012.

Open participation in the Contest
The Contest is open to young writers up to 24 years, writing in the Kazakh language. Place of residence, citizenship and nationality do not matter

Announcement of the results of the Contest will be published at web-sites of the Contest on June 1, 2012

Purpose of the Contest
1. Drawing of public attention to modern child poesy
2. Revelation of intensity, beauty, clarity and depth of the Kazakh language to public
3. Promotion of the Kazakh language as a literary and ethical basis of the Kazakh culture
4. Discovery of talented modern Kazakh-speaking poets, and introduction of their works to public, theorists of literature and publishers
5. The possibility of financial support in publishing their works in the Book of child poems, assistance in their creative development and awareness

Awards
The main winner will receive The Prize – a notebook and the possibility to get tuition fee in educational institution paid for account of the Saby Foundation after graduation from high school

Conditions of the Contest
Poetic works written in the Kazakh language of any genre, both previously published and never published, of a reasonable duration are allowed for participation in the Contest.
Poems may be on various themes.
Each participant may submit up to three of his best poems

Ethical requirements to material submitted by a participant of the Contest
It is prohibited to publish materials that:
– Contain uncontrolled vocabulary;
– Are of extremist nature;
– Affect honor and dignity of particular people;
– Are of pornographic and sexual nature;
– Cause psychological traumas to children;
– Are of nationalistic, racial or any other similar nature;
– Are of antireligious and extremist nature;
– Are of depressing nature

Participants of the Contest bear individual responsibility for violation of third parties’ copyright

Application of a participant

A participant of the Contest shall send a letter by email or mail addressed to Organizers. A letter shall contain:
– An Application, which represents an absolute consent with gratuitous publication of his/her works at web-sites of the Contest or in the Book of child poems; (attached)
– Files with the works
– Participant photo

Upon receipt of a participant’s letter his/her Application and works will be considered preliminarily by Organizers of the Contest, after which a participant will receive a confirmation from Organizers of the Contest if his/her works are accepted for the Contest

Executive bodies of the Contest
Organizers undertake to execute directly measures for organization and holding of the Contest.
Organizers may form jury and editorial staff of the Contest at their own discretion.

Editorial staff of the Contest may:
Carry out preliminary selection of poems for the Contest.
Editorial staff of the Contest does not take a duty to edit poems received for the Contest.
Editorial staff of the Contest is not responsible for content of poems received for the Contest.

Organizers of the Contest have a right to:
Publish at Organizers’ web-site selected works of each author, for which purpose authors shall give their written consent in the Application.
Use materials of the Contest in the working activity of Organizers

The results of the Contest will be:
– Announcement of the winner of the Contest;
– Awarding the Prize – a notebook to the winner;
– Publication of work of the winner on web-sites of Organizers;
– Coverage of the results of the Contest.

Organizers of the Contest reserve a right to make additional incentives to outstanding works at all stages of the Contest

It became a good tradition when the “Saby” Charitable Foundation shares with the achievements made by its participants – winners of grants under the “Alem” Program. And this time we have something special to talk about.

The young and talented singers – Zhassulan Sydykov and Timur Aldybergenov with the support of the “Saby” Charitable Foundation have got a unique chance to sing at the Gala Concert “Independence – the Dream of my Nation” marking the 20th anniversary of the Independence of our Republic held on December 16 at the Central Stadium “Astana Arena”.

Those people attending the Gala Concert became the lucky ones who saw the great theatrical and digital performances covering the history of the Republic of Kazakhstan Independence. And one of the most spectacular performances there was a 3D-lit graphics imitating the launching of a spaceship accompanied with the song “Arman” performed by musical trio the two members of which were represented by Alem participants. This song is about “The Dream” that is alongside with the feelings of Alem Participants because their performance was broadcasted on all the central TV channels of the Republic that is the real chance to dream about!

Timur and Zhassulan will remember this concert forever mainly for its great performances, including the fact that the first voice of the musical trio was represented by Medet Chotabaev – a well-known Kazakh opera singer, a laureate of numerous International Competitions, a soloist of the Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Abay; it is also important to note that this song “Arman” was written especially for this momentous event by a very talented musician, composer and arranger, and expert of the “Alem” Program – Renat Gaisin.

Once again we would like to congratulate all our people with this wonderful Independence Day and wish all of them to have their dreams to come true!
