Alem – support of young talents

The results of the Sixth Poetical Contest in the state language, annually declared by Saby Foundation, have been summarized.

The applications on literary contest came from different regions of the country. The main expert in the field of literature, who prepared his review on contest works, became the famous children’s poet, translator, a member of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, deputy editor in chief of “Baldyrgan” magazine Koshym-Nogay Baibota Serikbayuly.

This year the expert highly appreciated the works of only one participant among all young poets – Dina Bokebay, a 10-grade pupil of School No 25 of Kozhabaky village, Kazalinskiy district of Kyzylorda region. The expert distinguished not only technical advantages of the young poetess’s syllable, but accentuated her world view and keen perception of the poetry.

Thus, Dina Bokebay becomes the winner of our contest and receives the grand prize- notebook and the unique opportunity to compete for the educational grant of Saby Foundation within a framework of the “Alem” Young Talents Support Program next year. Please find hereby one of Dina’s contest work.

The regular academic year has completed and the period of long-expected vacations has started. Most of pupils have scheduled their summer in advance.

Children, who attended the courses of “advanced” mathematicians held by Saby Foundation, decided to continue their lessons in a summer period like in the past year.

As experience has shown, all-year activity for our mentees is not onerous duty. On the contrary, mathematics is a constant necessity for them. In addition, pupils try to have time for rest by making trips and getting away from it all for a short time.

Mathematical courses are financed by Saby Foundation within the framework of “Alem” Young Talents Support Program since 2014.

The acceptance of applications for participation in the Sixth Poetical Contest in the State language announced by Saby Foundation is continued.

The grand prize is a notebook and the possibility to study free on a grant of the “Alem” Young Talents Support Program in one of the humanitarian universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

We have already written about our Alem participant who won in 2012 the first international educational grant for the Alem Young Talents Support Program of Saby Foundation, Medet Shayakhmetov.

So, having studied at New York Film Academy for 3 years and having completed the full course in the speciality of Film Making, Medet became a degreed graduate of the most prestigious film school in the world!

At the age of 22 a young filmmaker has great creative experience. He has worked with famous Kazakhstani actors, made Q-eli sitcom in his country, implemented a lot of projects with Russian «stars», and participated in Sedona International Film Festival in the USA in the nominated category of «The Best Short Film» at the end of this February, and even though he did not get any prizes, he gained great experience and creative power.

We wish Medet progress in his career!

The “Alem” Programme for support of young talents is intended to assist children with talents in various fields of science, arts and sports .

Therefore, we could not pay no attention to the request of 10-year-old Masha Borisova, who, despite her young age, who has 1st dan rank of Shotokan Karate and many diplomas and certificates for winning in various competitions.

A girl from a multi-child family has gone in for karate from 4 years and have never missed any lesson! Of course, such a sense of purpose and will to win should be supported.

“Saby” Fund decided to pay to the young sports star the visit to “Martial Arts Olympics East-West 2016”, which will be held in May 2016 in St Petersburg.

Masha became the youngest participants of the “Alem” Programme.

The “Saby” Charity Foundation announces the beginning of The Sixth Child Poetry Contest in the official language of the Republic of Kazakhstan (“the Contest”)

Term of the Contest
The Contest will be held from January 5, 2016 till May 1, 2016.

Open participation in the Contest
The Contest is open to young writers up to 24 years, writing in the Kazakh language. Place of residence, citizenship and nationality do not matter

Announcement of the results of the Contest will be published at web-sites of the Contest on June 1, 2016

Purpose of the Contest
1. Drawing of public attention to modern child poesy
2. Revelation of intensity, beauty, clarity and depth of the Kazakh language to public
3. Promotion of the Kazakh language as a literary and ethical basis of the Kazakh culture
4. Discovery of talented modern Kazakh-speaking poets, and introduction of their works to public, theorists of literature and publishers
5. The possibility of financial support in publishing their works in the Book of child poems, assistance in their creative development and awareness

Awards
The main winner will receive The Prize – a notebook and the possibility to get tuition fee in educational institution paid for account of the Saby Foundation after graduation from high school

Conditions of the Contest
Poetic works written in the Kazakh language of any genre, both previously published and never published, of a reasonable duration are allowed for participation in the Contest.
Poems may be on various themes.
Each participant may submit up to three of his best poems

Ethical requirements to material submitted by a participant of the Contest
It is prohibited to publish materials that:
– Contain uncontrolled vocabulary;
– Are of extremist nature;
– Affect honor and dignity of particular people;
– Are of pornographic and sexual nature;
– Cause psychological traumas to children;
– Are of nationalistic, racial or any other similar nature;
– Are of antireligious and extremist nature;
– Are of depressing nature

Participants of the Contest bear individual responsibility for violation of third parties’ copyright

Application of a participant
A participant of the Contest shall send a letter by email or mail addressed to Organizers. A letter shall contain:
– An Application, which represents an absolute consent with gratuitous publication of his/her works at web-sites of the Contest or in the Book of child poems; (attached)
– Files with the works
– Participant photo

Upon receipt of a participant’s letter his/her Application and works will be considered preliminarily by Organizers of the Contest, after which a participant will receive a confirmation from Organizers of the Contest if his/her works are accepted for the Contest

Executive bodies of the Contest
Organizers undertake to execute directly measures for organization and holding of the Contest.
Organizers may form jury and editorial staff of the Contest at their own discretion.

Editorial staff of the Contest may:
Carry out preliminary selection of poems for the Contest.
Editorial staff of the Contest does not take a duty to edit poems received for the Contest.
Editorial staff of the Contest is not responsible for content of poems received for the Contest.

Organizers of the Contest have a right to:
Publish at Organizers’ web-site selected works of each author, for which purpose authors shall give their written consent in the Application.
Use materials of the Contest in the working activity of Organizers

The results of the Contest will be:
– Announcement of the winner of the Contest;
– Awarding the Prize – a notebook to the winner;
– Publication of work of the winner on web-sites of Organizers;
– Coverage of the results of the Contest.

Organizers of the Contest reserve a right to make additional incentives to outstanding works at all stages of the Contest

To benefactors:
We accept help from any individual or legal entity with the aim to expand the prize fund of the Contest and enhance the sphere of the Contest.

Only recently launched “Alem” program has already prepared its mentee for individual life. Here we wrote about our first graduates.

Today we want to tell about one more “Alem” participant, who recently graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with the master’s program in “Microelectronics, Nanotechnology and its Practical Use in Biology and Medicine”.

Akhazhanov Ablaikhan received support from “Saby” Foundation a year and a half ago, and now he would have still to study on the Master’s degree program, but he decided to precipitate the course of events. He studied zealously, in summer he worked in the University laboratory, where showed impressive results in research activities. Thanks to painstaking work and aspiration, Ablaikhan finished the Master’s program prematurely, having saved the whole year and promoted to PhD, where he continued to study electrical impedance tomography.

Moreover, Ablaikhan’s talent and potential were highly esteemed by the experts of the University of California and our “Alem” participant’s further education will be financed for account of the National Scientific Fund of Mechanical Engineering Department of UCLA, from funds of which Ablaikhan received educational grant.

Inspired by children’s successes, who attend mathematical courses organized by our Foundation, we have decided to increase the quantity of participants to three more persons.

Three gifted persons, successfully passed Achievement tests, have joined the group of ‘advanced’ mathematicians, who want to dedicate their lives to this exact science.

From October 21 to October 25 the V International Festival of Student and Debut Films “Bastau”, the sponsor of which became Saby Foundation within the framework of the “Alem” Program.

Citizens and guests of Almaty city had free opportunity to enjoy modern films for youth in BekmambetovCinema 3D. International jury, represented by distinguished people of cinema art of Kazakhstan, Russia and Germany, made an estimate of participants’ works.

The winners of all 10 nominations became young participants from four countries. Also two student projects from Kazakhstan were awarded by special grants in the amount of 1 million tenge. The money was allocated for the creation of short films on the provided scripts.

More than 40 guests from 18 countries, precisely famous directors, actors, heads and teachers of leading cinema schools of the world, as well as more than 200 students and graduates of leading cinema educational institutions of Kazakhstan took active participation in uncompetitive events of the festival.

“Alem” Young Talents Support Program continues its realization by “Saby” Foundation. More than 110 young talented Kazakhstan citizens received corresponding support within the framework of this project. 36 boys and girls became the possessors of educational grants in the most prestigious universities of our country and foreign countries.

Seven “Alem” participants will already receive Diplomas of higher education in 2016. These participants during the whole period of education presented themselves well: it may be both highest marks and victories in different competitions. In addition, some students already try to acquire work experience in the chosen profession.

We follow our mentee’s successes attentively and we are happy that we raise true professionals for the country.
