Alem – support of young talents

The first Exhibition by Roman Kuznetsov – a young talented artist from Petropavlovsk comes to its end. The given Exhibition was organized by the Charitable Foundation “Saby” with the support of the Art Exhibition Directorate.

The results of the given Exhibition are amazing: the works of a young talented artist were of high interest with the Mass media, with positive response from the critics and professionals; moreover the visitors of the Exhibition have noted the unique style of painting of Roman Kuznetsov. “You couldn’t even imagine that these paintings are created by a little boy – his works are amazing! When you are looking at these expositions you can feel the huge energy they are saturated and deeply sense they are created!”– said one of the guests.

Well, we’re very gratified by our young artist’s success (participant of Alem Program); and we wish him to have a great success both in his future paintings and other undertakings. “Roma, we wish you to remain for ever one, to create what you like most of all – because you are good in doing that!”

Timur Bekmambetov and other Cinema Stars of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan share with their impressions about the 2nd International “Astana” Action Movie Festival and evaluate the timeliness of its organization within the framework of the Contest of Scripts targeted on searching for talented young people in the field of the film art.

We are glad to inform you that the Charitable Foundation “Saby” with the support of the Art Exhibition Directorate have organized a two-week exhibit of art works by Roman Kuznetsov, a young artist from Petropavlovsk – a participant of “Alem” Program to support young talents.

By age 9 the boy has made much progress. His paintings and crafts were displayed at different Municipal, Oblast, Republican and International Exhibitions and were very popular with the public. Letters of Gratitude and Merit Certificates as well as publishing Roman’s works on the pages of various Albums and Catalogues is a significant evidence of his real talent and high potential. On the opinion of experts Roman uses rather unique style of painting and makes a continuous progress in his works every year.

Maitre of modern film industry, the first citizen of Kazakhstan, who conquered Hollywood, Timur Bekmambetov answers the questions of the “Saby” Foundation. The partnership of the Foundation with a team of renowned director is an annual scripts competition taking place within “Astana” festival of action – movies. Celebrating Astana Day is once again held on a large scale. Municipal akimat prepared perfectly and zestful as always. Residents and visitors plunged into a colorful presentations, cultural events, fairs and were delighted with the proposed program celebrating the birthday of Astana.

Worldwide music stars came to congratulate capital: Lara Fabian, Sarah Brightman operatic pop diva, Igor Krutoy outstanding composer, Arash, Jay Sean and other not least famous musicians.
During holidays, “Pushkin” cinema performance was presented for Astana residents. It is a new work made by Sergey Bezrukov where the leading role was played by him. The main idea was assumed as basis of father’s play, Vitaliy Bezrukov “Life, Tears & Love”.
5-hour Gala Concert was unforgettable event with participation of famous local and international artists.

And what was the joy of Zhassulan Sadykov, “firstborn”, and Timur Aldybergenov, a new member of “Alem” Programme, when they took part on great event with support of “Saby” Charitable Foundation.
By words of Zhassulan and Timur, they do not believe their happiness. Also, by this time they overfilled with emotions. Guys are sincerely grateful to the “Saby” Foundation for the received invaluable experience which will help them to develop their talents as a creative people.

Fireworks ended and the II International Festival of action-movie “Astana” draws to a close. Such world stars as Armand Assante, Michael Madsen, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez and other important guests appeared on the red carpet of the Festival.

The Festival, which was started last year and became an annual tradition, has become a kind of gift to citizens and guests of Astana on the eve of its birthday. That was a holiday of dynamic, modern and breathtaking movie.
Organizers of the Festival shown about 20 full-length movies presented by directors from the USA, Europe, Asia and CIS countries.

here were also conferences, roundtables and workshops held by film-makers at the international level.
The Film Festival included also presentation of Kazakhstan projects, which involved recognized masters of the national cinema and representatives of public organizations, including: Asanali Ashimov, Venera Nigmatulina, Amir Karakulov.

The “Saby” Charitable Foundation, which was an official partner of the Scenario Competition organized within the framework of the Festival, and which performed the functions of accumulation and sorting of information and provision of communication with applicants, presented the “Alem” author’s programme for support of young talents, the purpose of which was to provide equal opportunities to talented children to realize their abilities, regardless of the place of their residence.

In addition, as was previously promised by the organizers, a special promotion given to a young scenario writer from Kazakhstan Bahtiyor Kadirov with the project “Beyond one day”. He will also go to Hollywood to take participation in a joint work on a new film.
We hope that new stars appeared in the cinematography will show us their creative achievements.

Along with numerous applications from “Alem” Programme potential participants there are also a great number of poems being received by the “Saby” Charitable Foundation from those children living in the remotest regions of our country. To support young people living both in villages and rural districts we have invited Mr. Kali Sultan Kaliuly – the expert in the domain of literature, poet, writer, journalist, secretary and Chairman of the Board of Children’s Literature of the Guild of Kazakhstani Writers – to select the best poems.

After reading all the poems being addressed, Sultan Kaliuly has expressed his own opinion thereon: in general – all the poems are not bad and composed using different styles of writing, although in some of them I found some minor faults which I have tried to remake. Sultan has especially outlined the poem composed by Seiitova Bagdagul – a girl of fifteen years old living in Aktobe Oblast. Despite of her young age, Bagdagul’s poems are rather deep and lively.

Such a high esteem – is a real achievement for the young poetess. In addition, the “Saby” Foundation will award Bagdagul for her poetry achievements in the form of giving a Grant to pay her studies at one of the Educational Institutions of the City of Almaty.
We believe those recommendations and instructions given by Sultan Kaliuly will encourage young poets to compose a lot of good poems in future.

Less than two weeks passed after a representative of the “Saby” Foundation went to a creative business trip to East-Kazakhstan region to develop the “Alem” programme to support young talents, “Alem”, as one more opportunity appeared to organize a meeting with talented children in Aktobe region.
This time the trip included acquaintance with children from several schools of the region: City of Shalkar, district centers Oiyl and Kobda, and Aktobe as well. The interviews with the children proved to be quite effective, and the number of Alem participants will possibly increase. Management of education institutions welcomed the “Saby” Foundation with open arms, but with some confusion, as benefactors from Almaty do not often visit such remote villages. However, briefings resulted in making interesting proposals for mutual cooperation that would be considered by management of the Foundation because the “Alem” programme must grow and develop for the benefit of worthy representatives of the younger generation.

According to a tradition, during the trip we visited the Society for Paralyzed People Protection in Aktobe sponsored by the Foundation under the project “Decent Life for Persons with Disabilities” in order to study in details the works of the organization and monitor activities of the Invataxi service.

Every day we receive many letters and responses from different parts of our country from applicants for grants under the “Alem” Programme aimed at support of young talents.

Among the submitted applications the greatest activity was shown by students of the lyceum of Zyryanovsk city; in this regard, management of the “Saby” Foundation decided to send an employee of the Foundation to the East-Kazakhstan region to get acquainted with guys. At the meeting held prior to the Children’s Day, an interview was held with the grantees in the presence of the lyceum administration, and application forms from new applicants were completed.

The purpose of the trip – further promotion and development of the “Alem” programme in regions – has been achieved because the fact that there are a few guys from Zyryanovsk among the recipients of grants from the “Saby” Foundation will certainly give a stimulus to young talents from other towns and villages.

Of course, a business trip to the East-Kazakhstan region was aimed not only at the “Alem” Programme as the “Saby” Foundation was performing large-scale works on several projects is in the region. Therefore, during the trip the cities of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey were visited. A multifunctional sports ground is currently being built in the “Umit” orphanage in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk under the project “Sport, Health and Achievements”, and several children of the institution have received educational grants from the “Saby” Foundation”. “Bereginya” City Center for Family Support being sponsored by our Foundation under the Project “Decent Life for Persons with Disabilities” and Semey community of persons with disabilities have received from the Foundation two Invataxi cars. Visits to all sites have become fruitful, and the information collected – timely and useful.

On May 25 in the “3D Arsenal” Movie Theatre there was a Press-Conference held for the purposes of screening the results of the first stage of Bekmambetov’s Contest; the “Saby” Charitable Foundation is the official partner thereof.

Members of Bekmambetov’s Contest Selection Committee have announced the names of those authors whose synopsises will be admitted to the semifinal. Now contestants have to provide their script’s full version. And the Final of Bekmambetov’s Contest will take place within a period from July 01 till July 05, 2011 during Timur Bekmambetov’s Action Film Festival – “Astana”, where the best synopsises will be judged by the enlightened movie auditorium. Along with the kazakhstani contestants, we have also the contestants from other countries; however, there is a place to be reserved in the top five for our compatriot.

The winner will be the best script-writer who will take a prize of 10 000 US dollars and besides will have an opportunity to work with Bekmambetov’s Producing Company – “Bazelevs”. However, those contestants who were not admitted to the Final will have another chance given by the Organizers of Bekmambetov’s Contest: their scripts will be noticed at the Festival in Astana during the Presentation being organized with participation of well-known international filmmakers and producers, potential sponsors and philanthropists who are searching new ideas.
