Project “Education”

Nine months of the preparation to the Unified National Testing in the municipal tutorial center, where in the frame of the Saby Foundation Education Project the fosterlings of our children houses built on their knowledge of school subjects, have been passed.

Control exams as well as the last year’s experience have showed that after having passed these courses, when entering higher education institutions, school leavers can count on the winning of education scholarships. We do hope that the tenacious long work on deepening of knowledge and sharpening of UNT techniques in the end will help the children to cope with the intension during examination and pass it, having done by this the first step in social adaptation.

And we, having “crossed our fingers”, can only wait for the results of our common efforts – high scores in the republican testing. We wish good luck and success to future enrollees!

One and a half months is left before the end of the school year and the preparation for the Unified National Testing in schools is well underway. With great responsibility for the upcoming certification the pupils from the sponsored orphanages, attending the UNT preparation courses from September, came up as well.

As in the past year, we have high expectations on these graduates. Successful testing will open them a way to prestigious Higher Educational Institutions in Almaty and will permit Saby Foundation to increase, thanks to savings, the admission of participants in the Educational Project 2012 which traditionally started on March 19.

We kindly remind all managers of sponsored child social institutions that the deadline for the submission of documents for obtaining Saby Foundation’s educational grants is April 19 and the applications forwarded after this date will not be considered.

Recently the second (February) professional orientation testing stage for 9- and 11-form pupils from Saby Foundation’s fosterlings – Almaty Orphanages #1 and #2 and Almaty Province Regional Orphanage, has finished 57 persons participated in it.

A right choice of profession is the main task of a teenager preparing to an independent life. However for the present moment it turns out to be not so easy.
Besides visits to numerous “open day” colleges and higher education institutions convincing that the specialties they offer are a guarantee of social welfare, a “contribution” is also made by obtrusive TV advertising assuring that work in a nice bright office at a computer means success and therefore prosperity. Such type of activities is associated by future alumni first of all with professions of lawyer, manager, economist and financier.

But as proved by vast experience of the Foundation’s employees, very often children do not suppose that, firstly, professional market is overwhelmed with unclaimed specialists and, secondly, employers hardly engage ex orphanage fosterlings for such work, mainly because of being afraid of their insufficient financial and legal responsibilities.

Testing by the ProfOrientator Program first of all helps young people to determine peculiarities of character, temper, inclinations and certainly knowledge corresponding to the requirements and qualities which are necessary for work performance within the frame of definite specialties. This, according to psychologists, is a passport to success in future profession.

Vocational guidance is one of the orientations of Educational project of the Charitable Foundation “Saby”. The primary object of this project is to help leavers of social institutions with vocational choice for children. It is very responsible step that maybe defines the life of young people in the future.

Testing on vocational guidance organized by us in two stages is held annually in October and February. Several days ago the first stage of this year was finished. 55 children from three supported orphanages took participation in it. Computer program “Professional orientator” developed by Russian specialists helps ninth formers and eleventh formers to determine their future profession.

Step-by-step individual analysis of results is executed after computer testing, firstly with the employees of the center, then with psychologists of orphanages. Important issues of the development of children’s innate abilities are studied. Also the necessity of additional lessons on certain subjects recommended by the program to intensified learning is discussed. Only excellent knowledge may be the basis for further education in institutes of higher education and colleges on specialties chosen during vocational guidance.

Right choice of profession is the possibility to realize the abilities and obtaining of maximum results from the work being done!

Cooperation of the “Saby” Foundation with an educational center that trained senior pupils from our sponsored orphanages to the Unified National Testing during the last year will continue this year. Graduates, who had attended tutoring courses, showed a very good level of knowledge, and most of them entered the universities by state education grants. Such a result pleased everyone – teachers, our Foundation and, of course, the students themselves.

Management of our Foundation has assessed the positive experience and decided to continue cooperation with tutors. At the same time, children from orphanages of Almaty inspired by the success of elder friends have started visiting the courses.

According to the approved programme students will gain knowledge on 5 subjects: four basic (history, mathematics, Kazakh, Russian) and one main subject at choice.

At the beginning of a new school year thousands of yesterday’s graduates across the country crossed the threshold of secondary and higher education institutions. This year, within the framework of the Education Project, grants of the “Saby” Foundation for education were given to 34 children from orphanages and boarding schools from different parts of Kazakhstan, 8 of which were first-year students.

Children receive support of the Foundation relating to financing of education because of good progress at school, active social activities and, to a large extent, a choice of specialties that are in demand on the labor market.

Unfortunately, at the present time prestige of profession of a primary school teacher, or, say, logistician is unfairly undervalued. But nearly a decade of experience of the Foundation in the field of education has shown that young people who received such professions can always get a job and have a small but steady income. If desired, young people continue their further study increasing the level of their education and a social status as well.

Educational project being implemented by the “Saby” Foundation for many years, continued in 2010 – 2011 academic year. Its main stage is payment for education of Kazakh orphans, children left without parental care, as well as children from disadvantaged families in universities and colleges.

The last ring happened and we can sum up: this year 10 participants of the Educational Project completed the first course and moved to second course, 15 students moved to the third course, and 6 students received diplomas of specialists.

Unfortunately, not all came to the finish. Some guys, when faced difficulties of student life, could not find the strength to continue their education. However, leadership of educational institutions encouraged some guys and transferred them to free education divisions for their excellent performance and active social position!

We congratulate our young professionals and wish them professional growth and career achievements, and for students continuing their education – diligence and success in studies.

The most important thing in any job is the result, the achievement of a stated goal.

What can be an indicator of success of children from our sponsored orphanages, who have studied over a period of six months in the tutoring center under the Educational Project of the “Saby” Foundation? Of course, the results of the Unified National Testing.

And we are happy to announce that all our graduates have coped with testing and got good points and now, in the admission to universities, they may qualify for state education grants.

We wish future students further success and hope that each of them will acquire new knowledge in a chosen school with the same insistence and diligence.

Within a period of 6 consecutive month all the children from our orphanages have been improved their knowledge of exact sciences and humanities, having attended every lesson for passing the UNT being sponsored by Saby Foundation under its Educational Project. We are very glad to see the final results of these classes: the preliminary testing shows that some of the graduates may pretend to free Government Grants to enter the Higher Educational Institutions.

But the final results we can track in June: UNT results will show the children’s’ and their tutors’ hard-working within a 6-year period and also will show if the Saby Foundation may continue its cooperation with the Tutorial Center under its Program for social adaptation of children from orphanages and boarding schools.

We wish our graduates to be successful when passing the Unified National Testing!
